色んな技法、色んなライトはありますが、ただ穴が空いているランプや、穴が綺麗に並んでいるランプというだけでなく、ひょうたんだからこそできる、ひょうたんの性質を活かしたランプを作ることを目指しています。

中でも、ひょうたんを表面から削り残す濃淡でランプの表情を描くオリジナルの技法は、ひょうたんのもつ温かみや魅力をより感じていただけるのではないでしょうか？



光をさえぎらない為に、ひょうたんの内側のガタつきを無くす下処理、
中に入れるライトとひょうたんまでの距離、
ひょうたんには厚みがあるので穴を開ける角度、
ライトの位置とひょうたんのわん曲により、どのように光が壁に絵を描くか。。。
ひょうたん自身の色素により、どんなライトを入れるか、どんなデザインにするか。。。

ここには上げきれないほど細部までこだわりながら、研究しながら、日々の取り組んでいます。

There are various kinds of techniques to make a lamp. I am particular about the light beams flowing beautifully from the gourds. Not just making gourd lamps with holes or drilling the holes nicely.

What I do care is about the illuminating, and so I committed to quality workmanship in my works and make it with care.

I smooth the inner shell of the gourds so the lights show beautifully.

I calculate the distance between the gourd and the led light, and the angles to drill the gourd of its thickness. Then I check how the rays appears on the wall and how the picture changes from the curves of the gourd and the from the light I placed in the gourd...

Then I choose what kind of light to put in the gourd from the colour the gourd has and then what kind of design shall the lamp be.

There are so many things that I care about and I can't write all of them.

I am investigating day by day.

Making something good requires intuition and master craftsmanship.

ひょうたんランプは彫る事よりも残す事が技です。
まさに余白の美、わびさびの世界です。

こだわりの表現の一つに ”透かし彫り” を使います。
まさにその名の通り、表面から少しづつ、少しづつやすっていって、中の内皮一枚を残していきます。

その透かし彫りを更に表面からけづり模様をつけた“柄入り透かし”という技法を使います。

そうする事により、ライトを入れた時に、
余白の黒、穴を開けたりくり抜いた白、そして透かしのオレンジの3つのカラーが引き立て合い、世界観を表現致しております。

The skill of an artisan is measured by the subtleties of his product.

In gourd lamps it is not carving that shows the technique.

Leaving the margin is the technique. Its the "Beauty of the blank" in Japan. The same as Japanese "Wabi and Sabi". The attitude of seeking beauty and inner contentment in simplicity and imperfection.

One of my passion techniques is using fretworks,latticeworks.

Sanding the surface of the gourd, I only leave a slightly inner skin. So when the light is in the lamp, you could see the beautiful 3 colors of the  black and white and oranges and the contrasts of the lights and shades.

This is my own expressing way of seeing things.

ランプにひょうたんの素材の良さを消さない、こだわりの塗料を使ったり、表面を焼き焦がして、模様を描いています。

こうする事により、より味わい深く、粋なランプが誕生致します♡

Also you can enjoy the lamp as an art work when the light is out.

I put some spechial varnish on the gourds so the lamps looks natural and a matte finish.

When using the varnish, not only a natural tasteful expression is obtained but also the lamp looks more exotic and unique.
